A Bad Day In London

A Bad Day In London

Today was a bad day in London. But the thing that's amazed me, as an outsider was just how quickly everybody seemed to recover that British stiff upper lip, and how quickly even non Londoners picked up on these signals and became determined to carry on. We worked as hard, if not harder today than usual, despite not knowing how we were going to get home. Despite not being able to call our loved ones.
People talked about the war. Not the Iraq war, the blitz, or the IRA. People smiled grimly at each other and told quiet jokes. Tomorrow people will be back on the busses and if they can, the tubes. People will be back at work. London's survived worse.

Right, now who wants a cup of tea.
